"Natural" is a widely thrown around term.
But who defines what exactly is natural,
does every ingredient need to be natural for a product to be considered so?
With Dr. Hauschka this does not need to be a cause for concern.
Soon this logo pictured will be proudly displayed on our Dr. Hauschka Skin Care packages.
This logo indicates that each product is certified natural as defined by the "BDIH".
What is the BDIH?
BDIH (Bundesverband Deutcher Industrie und Handelsunternehmen)
is the German Federal Association of Industrial and commercial companies that
manufacture medications, health products, dietary supplements and skin care products.
They joined forces in 1996 and developed comprehensive guidelines to define what exactly
constitutes a natural product.
Each company which is involved in the BDIH has been subject to testing performed
by an independent institute, Ecocontrol.
The objective is to ensure compliance with the guidelines based on an unbiased opinion.
Highlights of the criteria set forth by the BDIH include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Raw materials are predominantly of plants or mineral origin.
  • Plants should be grown organically.
  • Raw must be obtained in an environmentally sound and socially responsible manner.
  • Must synthetic ingredients are unacceptable.
  • No animals testing of raw materials of products.
  • Animals by-products from vertebrates, such as collagen, elastin, ceramides, mink or spermaceti oils, are not allowed.
  • Production methods must be apparent and verifiable.
  • Genetically modified material is strongly discouraged.
  • Packaging must environmentally friendly.
  • Company philosophy must embrace socially responsible business practices.
  • Dr. Hauschka Skin Care transcends these principals.
Our products are free from synthetic fragrances, preservatives and colours,
as well as genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
They contain valuable plant oils, genuine essential oils and extracts from plants grown biodynamically, organically or harvested in the wild.
